Can you have instant success?

            It’s been about a month now and you have gone through profile after profile on you online dating service. You finally found someone that might interest you and you start to communicate through email. He seems to be a pretty fun and intelligent guy so you rush to your computer when you get home to see if he emailed you. While you are sitting at work you are thinking about what clever things you can say to him when you guys instant message that night. You guys go on and on for a few weeks and finally he pops the big question. He wants to know if he can call you. You are totally freaking out and excited at the same time. You get home, barely get your shoes off and the phone rings. It’s him. So you get on the couch with a cup of tea and the two of you laugh and talk for a few hours. He sounds different than what you expected but who cares. And then.. You tell him you want him to meet your for dinner.

First Date
            Okay so the time has come and you haven’t been on a date in forever. First thing you start getting together is your outfit, hair and nails.  So you call your best girlfriends and tell them emergency shopping. You are running around town for the rest of week like a chicken with your head cut off because you want to look perfect for this first date. For some reason when we are going to meet a date for the first time we tend to make ourselves into this perfect little package. You just feel the need to find that perfect shirt and a new haircut.      

Status of this Affair?

            The big night is here and you finally are getting out of your care to head into the restaurant to meet your new guy. Of course you are feeling anxious in not knowing what to expect. Your feet hurt and you can barely breath in your dress, but you look amazing. So you walk in and you look. You see a person sitting at a bar the you recognize. When he orders his drink you recognize his voice, but he just doesn’t look the same as his picture. So you just walk over trying not to seem to disappointed. You two finally sit down to have dinner and it is only getting worse. You are tipsy by the time dinner has arrived. By this time nobody is talking and you are just ready to get the heck out of dodge. You tell him thanks but no thanks for dessert and that you have a meeting early tomorrow so need to get going. You finish by saying you look forward to seeing him and as bad as your feet hurt, you walk out quickly. Can’t think of anything but getting out of the shoes. Yes it was good, do call me or we can video chat online.

Okay so what did we learn.

1. Just bring yourself. Leave the kit and caboodle at home.
2. Don’t get too excited over a guy online until you’ve met and the chemistry is there.
3. Know what it is what you are looking for and except nothing less.
4. If you don’t like him, get out of there.
